Why do people choose to participate in horrific events?

I think that people choose to participate in horrible events for many reasons.  One of the reasons is that they think that they are doing the right thing because they are crazy.  Another reason is that they may hate people from a certain group so they take the opportunity to harm them whenever they can.  I also think that people do horrible things because they think that it will bring them up on the social scale so by hurting people they will gain money and power. People may also choose to participate because the government may have told them that they are doing the right so using misinformation they would be able to change how people think and feel.

In your opinion, what is the most effective way to overcome trauma?

A very effective way to overcome is to be in a support group and than you can talk about your feelings in a safe place.  It is better to talk about traumatic experiences in a group of people who understand because they will have empathy for them and they will be able to get their feelings out.  It is also important to learn to live with what happened so that it no longer keeps you up at night.

Gringolandia 3

I agree with the idea that those who helped the Pinochet regime and those who benefited should be held responsible for what they did to some extent but if they did not know that they were having people killed because they were selling things to the government then they should not get in trouble.  The call for justice connects to the call for forgiveness because when people own up to what they did the people who were hurt by them may be able to forgive them for what they have done.  It will be very hard to forgive the people who did wrong if they did not have justice brought upon them.  Chile's universe of obligation leaves people who have not said that they are responsible are outside of the UOO. People who still think that they did the right thing by helping pinochet are outside of the Universe of obligation.

Gringolandia

The act of revolution that I saw was that they were rebelling against the destruction of memory.  Digging up the bodies was an act of rebellion because they are trying to get back memory that the government tried to get rid of evidence that those people were alive. Another act of rebellion that  I saw was the man who remembered every single part of the concentration camps so that he could show people what was happening the camps.  The man who drew what happened in the concentration camps had a very effective way of protest because he could really show people what was happening.
